THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHT

Dancing Fountains at Longleat Safari Park

THE BRIEF

We were contracted to supply a large, colourful water installation as part of Longleat’s annual ‘Festival of Light’ as part of their Christmas walk. Having worked at the venue in the past, we knew the location would be ideal for a Fountain & Projection showcase, accompanied by a soundtrack.

CHALLENGE

Working at Longleat comes with its additional challenges. The lake we work in was the home to a 49 year old Hippo (who sadly died in Jan 2024) and their Sea Lions.  They are very inquisitive and often come to visit whilst we are installing the pumps, so we’re required to leave the lake when they are close by.

Despite these interruptions the system was installed and tested over a 2 day period and then ran for an 8 week period.

SOLUTION

Our combination of Dancing Fountain Jets, coloured lighting and stunning Video Projection onto water were installed in the lake adjacent to the gardens. As part of the illuminated trail, guests paused overlooking the lake to enjoy a short, musically choreographed sequence. This included a 20m wide Water Projection screen in the middle flanked by 30m of dancing water fountains either side.

We worked with the Safari Park to ensure that the video looked crisp on the water projection screen, and the music, spoken word and colour combined to create a dynamic, immersive experience.

RESULT

One of our largest installations to date, it ran successfully for 8 weeks. The show was well received by the thousands of guests who attended the event, and we received many positive comments. Check it out below!
